| Is the Oscar a Curse to Actresses? | | Hilary Swank, Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon and Julia Roberts split with their husbands or partners soon after being awarded the coveted gold statuette. Sandra Bullock also got into marital issues with her husband. Is there a curse on those who get this coveted award? Some think so while others beg to differ.Bonnie Fuller, editor-in-chief of celebrity news website HollywoodLife.com opines that when women are strong and successful and married or involved with men who maybe feel threatened or insecure, having such public recognition can really destabilize the relationship. She says, “A lot of guys cannot handle a strong, successful woman, and the Oscar has to be one of ultimate accolades one can receive.” So what is your opinion on this? Is the curse to be believed? | |
| | All-time favorite female lead for romantic comedies? | | Just like a typical girl, I enjoy watching romantic comedies. Light-hearted stories with guaranteed happy endings. However, making people laugh while pulling at their heartstrings is not always an easy task. So there are actors/actresses who can pull it off repeatedly and with such charm, and there are those who simply fall flat on their faces.I'm conducting a poll among mylotters on who are their favorite female lead for romantic comedies. I'm putting my top five for you guys to choose from and/or feel free to add more names.Top on my list is Meg Ryan (When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail, etc). I just love her girl next door image.
Second is Drew Barrymore (50 First Dates, Never Been Kissed), whose comedic timing is just great.
Third is Reese Witherspoon of Legally Blonde fame.
Fourth, Julia Roberts. Pretty Woman, enough said.
Fifth is Kate Hudson, I just adore her in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. How about you? Do you like my choices? I'm sure you have other names of your own.

| | Highschool never ends? | | I was listening to my iPod last night and i came across this song fro Bowling for Soup. "Highschool Never Ends", it's called. i listened to the lyrics and i cant help but agree to it. well, that would be based on my own experience, of course. I'm not sure about you guys. To give you an idea, check out the lyrics:Four years, you think for sure
That's all you've got to endure
All the total _____
All the stuck up chicks
So superficial, so immature
Then when you graduate
You take a look around and you say:
HEY WAIT!
This is the same as where i just came from
I thought it was over
Aw, that's just greatThe whole ____ world is just as obsessed
With who's the best dressed and who's having ___
Who's got the money, who gets the honeys
Who's kinda cute and who's just a mess
And you still dont have the right look
And you dont have the right friends
Nothing changes but the faces, the names, and the trends
Highschool never endsCheck out the popular kids
You'll never guess what Jessica did
How did Mary Kate lose all that weight
And Katie had a baby so i guess Tom's straight
And the only thing that matters
Is climbing up that social ladder

| | Did you watch the HFHN telethon? | | On Friday night the Hope For Haiti Now (HFHN) telethon aired on several channels. A tons of celebrities (e.g. Reese Witherspoon, Steven Spielberg, Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Colin Ferrel, Cindy Crawford, George Clooney) and musicians (e.g. Christina Aguilera, Wyclef Jean, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake) were there manning the phones and performing; I heard yesterday that some $57 million was raised just that night.
I watched some of it, but I didn't call in. I thought it was a really tasteful and heartfelt program that they put on- when the celebrities came on to say something they didn't say, "Hi, I'm George Clooney..." and make it all cheesy. Many of them were wearing no makeup and talking to people on the phones like real people, not all prepped and glamorous.
I was surprised to see Rob Pattinson on- when I saw him I shouted "Look!" impulsively. My mom was in the room, she know that I like him, and she was like "Call! Call in and talk to him! hahaha!" lol.
| | Successful Sexy Scot! | | Red-haired Nicole Kidman, a half-bred Scot, now rules the roost. From television and mini-series, she has now taken the coveted position as the highest paid actress in Hollywood, surpassing the likes of Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon.
She was spotlighted when she played critical roles beginning with the suspenseful thriller, Dead Calm. Then she co-starred with Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder. She continued partnering Cruise in Far and Away, a silly yarn about Irish immigrants grabbing land in America. In Batman Forever, Nicole Kidman first took the glitzy label as star material.
To Die For gave her the first Golden Globe.
Nicole was a brazen hussy of an actress. She was an artist through and through. She knew no fear nor shame. Look how she stares penetratingly sensuous in Practical Magic.
She bared all in Billy Bathgate, Eyes Wide Shut and in Cold Mountain. On stage, she went completely nude in the faintly lighted Blue Room. Then she enamoured the whole world with her role as the lovely courtesan, Satine in Moulin Rouge, dying tragically in the end. The world's runaway craving for Nicole Kidman started and they gave her continuing support in the film; The Others.

| | Rocky Horror Picture Show MTV remake | | What is everyone's opinion on this idea of a remake? Personally, I'm disgusted my the idea. I just don't think you can remake a cult classic. However, I have been playing this little game with myself where I try to think who I would want to cast in the remake - just for fun. Who would you cast? I will start. Frank N Furter: I think Russell Brand has potential but I would love to see Robert Downey JR play this role. Janet: Isla FischerBrad: Topher Grace or Christian Bale. Riff Raff: Mackenzie Crook (Gareth from the Office -UK version)Magenta: Helena Bonham CarterColumbia: Reese Witherspoon maybe. This was a tough one.Rocky: Owen WilsonEddy: Jack Black would be awesome!Criminologist: Tim Curry | |
| | Before They Were Famous | | Years ago I saw the movieA Far Off Place, which starred a then very young Reese Witherspoon. I still remember how great a movie that was. And I thought then how unusually beautiful she was. So it was nice to see as she got older, she became cast in more and more movies, most of them of very good quality. But I rememberA Far Off Place, and it has to be the favorite of all the movies I have seen of hers. Are there any movies you remember seeing of stars today, that were movies made before they hit it big? | |
